Looking ahead, it’s possible that Apple will adjust the pricing of future “e” series iPhones. The iPhone 17e, likely priced at $499, could bring the series back to more reasonable pricing, making it a true budget-friendly option without as many compromises.

For now, the iPhone 16e, though not a bad phone, simply isn't a good value at $599. There are better options out there, both within the Apple lineup and from third-party sellers.
